Some of the Engagement group visited the Shree Mandir Hindu Temple in Catherine Street on Sunday 11 th January. We were able to sit in the Temple for the devotions and take part in the Aarti Ceremony, a ceremony of lights which were offered to Krishna and to other aspects of the Deity.

Holy water was flung over us all, and there was wonderful singing throughout, accompanied by bells and drums.

The Temple is beautiful, with lots of carved marble, and numerous statues of Krishna and other Gods, which makes the Temple very vibrant.  

Thanks are due to Ramesh Majithia, who gave us a short talk afterwards, which was most interesting, and we also had the opportunity to read some of the Bhagavad Gita together.
