Balancing my life

Thinking about 'balance' for me was quite difficult because my searches on the internet only brought up information on time management, so I was forced to think for myself!

My first thought was about balancing my own life. With this, an issue for me is around balancing the time I give to myself with the time I give to my family and my community work.

I know that a good idea is to put a space in my diary for personal time and this I have started to do. But about my personal time, that needs balancing too. I want to make a four way balance between the time I spend on exercise for my body, reading and writing for my mind, creative time and spiritual time. Finding space for my own spiritual needs is the most tricky as it is about knowing what to do. But I have made some resolutions about this, particularly to do with developing my meditation skills.

I have also been thinking about the Equinox, a time when the balance between night and day changes and the balance between winter and summer also changes, and I want this to relate to my own personal balance. I found this reading from a book called The Spiral Dance (by Starhawk) which helped me.

This is the time of spring's return, the joyful time, the seed time, when life burst forth from the earth and the chains of winter are broken. Light and dark are equal, it is a time of balance, when all things are brought into a new harmony. The fresh rain and the spring flowers symbolises despair turning to hope, sorrow to joy and want to abundance. May our hearts open with the Spring. Blessed be.
