Chalice lighting on 'Dark and Light'

We light our Chalice candle today with some words from the Indian mystic, Osho, as we remember that we are all born from darkness.   There is darkness in the Mother's womb which is needed for the growing child.   The child is so tender, it needs the velvety darkness around it.   Everything in the beginning grows in darkness.   If you just throw seed on the ground, it may not grow because there is too much light.    It needs the womb of the earth to grow in - there it is dark.   Once the seed starts growing, it starts rising above the earth.   Then it reaches towards the sun, towards the moon, towards the stars.   The child is born.   Physically it comes into the light, but spiritually remains in darkness until it has a spiritual birth.   Physically, you are in light but you need another birth so that spiritually you are in the light.   Light is another name for existence.   The moment you are born into that life, you are enlightened.   You become the light.   Amen.
